Fresh off their bronze medal success at the Beach Pro Tour Challenger event in Nuvali, Philippines, the British beach volleyball number 1 team of Javier and Joaquin Bello are gearing up for their next challenge: the prestigious Beach Pro Tour Finals in Doha, Qatar.
Their outstanding season, marked by exceptional performances on the sand, has earned them a wild card entry to this highly exclusive event. The Bellos will join ten of the world’s top teams from December 4-7, competing for one of beach volleyball’s most coveted titles.
Facing the World’s Best
The Bellos are set to compete in a five-team pool, featuring four powerhouse teams all of which played in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Their opening match will pit them against world number one duo and reigning Olympic champions David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden. Having bested the Swedes at the Elite16 event in Rio earlier this season, the British brothers will look to prove their mettle once again, while their opponents aim to reassert dominance.
Next, the Bellos will face Brazil's Evandro and Arthur, ranked seventh globally, followed by the Netherlands' van de Velde and Immers. The group stage concludes with a high-stakes clash against second-seeded Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway, gold medallists at Tokyo 2020 and bronze medallists at Paris 2024. The Bellos defeated the formidable Norwegian pair during their sensational run to the Elite16 title in Rio, a performance they’ll seek to replicate in Doha.
A Season of Growth and Recognition
This wild card invitation is not just a testament to the Bellos’ skill and determination but also reflects their remarkable journey and growing reputation on the international stage. The British Volleyball family is rallying behind them, beaming with pride for the strides they’ve made this season and throughout their young professional careers.
The British Volleyball Federation extends its sincerest thanks to the FIVB and the Qatar Volleyball Association for granting this wild card opportunity, a significant acknowledgment of the Bellos’ achievements and potential.
Best Wishes
As the Bellos take to the sand in Doha, they carry with them the full support, excitement and enthusiasm of British volleyball fans everywhere. We wish them every success as they close out their season against the sport's global elite.
